Since 1999 watching Tungurahua volcano results a fascinating experience, because in November that year, Tungurahua woke up and proved once again, what all the old legends and historic facts tells us about its powerful explosions. Since there, the volcano is still smoking several times a day.
Tungurahua, it is located about 180 km south of Quito, and few km away from Baños city it is the responsible of the hot springs in Baños and the diverse landscape around.
It first climbing was made in 1873 by Wilhelm Reiss and Stübel. And for obviously reasons, it is forbidden to climb, however watching this volcano and enjoying the area is a fantastic soft experience that you should do in Ecuador.
Due to Baños geographic location, this area became an important destination for soft and advanced adventures. In Fact, its dramatic landscape, cloud and Andean forest, rivers, waterfalls, Amazon roads and local culture give us enough reasons to explore this area.
Depart to Baños city along the Volcanoes Avenue, possibility to see and Indian market, Afternoon hike in the cloud forest. Hotel and diner.
Descend along the Waterfall Avenue, hike and cable car experience until we get to the largest waterfall known as "Pailon del Diablo". Afternoon back to Quito.
